WWII-era Millers Falls No. 9 Smooth Plane Made in U.S.A with USMC property marking on tote (unverified military provenance). Millers Falls branded lever cap Vintage Millers Falls smoothing plane #9. Features the classic arched MILLERS FALLS lever cap and Pat. No. 1,822,520 marking. The tote is stamped USMC - this appears to be an ownership/property marking and not a factory marking (military provenance unverified but the plane was once owned by WW2 Naval Engineer and veteran who believed this stood for Unite States Marine Corps).
Features Miller Falls branded lever cap (raised logo) Patent mark: Pat. No. 1,822,520 Red japanned frog (typical Miller Falls finish) Wood front knob and rear tote (hardwood appearance, likely rosewood.) Traditional bench smoother size.
Condition (please read) Overall used vintage condition with surface oxidation/rust and normal shop wear
Tote: noticeable finish wear/chipping near the base/lower horn area; no obvious structural break seen.
Knob: appears solid with no visible cracking
Lever cap: logo is legible; light oxidation/grime
Iron/blade: surface rust present; edge condition unknown and will likely need sharpening/honing
Sole: oxidation; no obvious deep gouges visible; mouth area looks serviceable.
Notes: The USMC stamp is included as a notable marking, but no paperwork or verification is included.
Please review photos closely for exact condition and included parts. No restoration performed; not tested on wood Sold as-is, as shown. Plane only, exactly what is shown in the photos. Vintage planes may need cleaning, tuning, and sharpening before regular use.
